Let's answer some questions

Guests

We’re so glad you asked! Skillet is a marketplace for cooking classes and food-experiences. Instructors use Skillet as a platform to list their cooking classes, cooking tours, beverage tasting, baking classes and all other types of culinary educational experiences.

We are all about connecting and so, at this time, Skillet features interactive experiences only. This means live in-person or live virtual experiences only.

Great question! Instructors/Tour Guides/Experience planners list their events, along with prices, schedules and the number of seats available directly through the Instructor dashboard.

Guests search, select and pay for the number of seats they want to reserve and Skillet will pay the Instructor. Easy peasy!

We understand. Please respect that Experience Planners and Instructors have costs they incur to prepare for events. Cancelling after purchase may cause our instructors to incur unnecessary costs they can’t recoup.

As Skillet is a listing service, refunds are not guaranteed and are at the Instructor’s discretion. See our Terms and Conditions.

Please contact the experience provider with your refund request. If your request was not resolved to your satisfaction, please contact us and we will do our best to ensure you are satisfied.

Instructors

Virtual, instructor-led (VILT) and live (in-person) food and beverage-related educational experiences and excursions for all audience levels. Think: cooking, baking, charcuterie, and cake decorating classes; wine tasting, beer making, meal planning, and mixology; specialty diets, kids classes, vineyard tours, etc.

Skillet is also the place for non-traditional experiences. Here are some examples:

  • kitchen knife skills
  • kids’ cooking class
  • vegan basics
  • group tour to a coffee plantation in Jamaica
  • meal planning and prep
  • how chocolate is made from bean to bar
  • making spice blends
  • teas and coffees from around the world
  • local market tour and specialty food tasting
  • beer-making class
  • bowls of fruit – how food has been represented in art
  • food safety in the home kitchen

You get the idea. If you lead unique food/beverage-related experiences where guests will learn something, it belongs on Skillet. If you’re not sure your topic belongs on Skillet, reach out to Keith to help.

Nothing! Listing your culinary classes and events on Skillet is free and each listing lasts up to 30 days (we expire them off the platform the day after the event for the best user experience.) While we focus on driving guest traffic to Skillet, all sales are subject to a low, introductory commission, only for experiences you sell on through the Skillet platform. Reach out to discuss listing your experiences on Skillet.

We made it pretty easy! Through our self-service Instructor portal, you can create an account, add your business information, and enter your class/experience details including descriptions, dates, times, photos, location, and price per person. Our guides will help you make your listings stand out!
